Lay back, act natural, and let’s take some pictures
This isn’t about a photo session, or even the pictures, it’s about You. Forget about posing and feeling stiff in front of the camera. Imagine going on a walk with an old friend, who just happens to have a camera with them. My process is free and flowy, and my only goal is to capture your true self.
The real You framed into a timeless portrait
My approach
01.
Fill out the form
Once you’ve made up your mind, complete the form, and I will be getting back to you as soon as possible.
02.
Meet up
So everyone feels comfortable and accustomed to each other, we’ll have a quick call to discuss things and plan everything out.
03.
Picture time
The big day! We’ll meet, talk, connect, and get to know each other. In the meantime, I will be preparing the equipment so we can jump right into it.
04.
Delivering photos
In two or three weeks, you will receive your edited pictures, to see yourself in all your natural glory.
This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?
Preparation
1. Communicate Your Vision:
• Discuss your expectations, style preferences, and any specific ideas you have with the photographer. Share reference images if possible.
2. Choose Your Outfits:
• Plan your wardrobe ahead of time. Select outfits that complement the setting and bring a few options to the session. Avoid overly busy patterns or logos that can be distracting.
3. Grooming and Hygiene:
• Make sure you are well-groomed. Get a haircut, trim nails, and ensure your skin is clean and moisturized.
4. Rest and Hydrate:
• Get a good night’s sleep before the session and drink plenty of water to look your best.
5. Props and Accessories:
• If you want to include any props or accessories, prepare them in advance. Make sure they fit the theme and style of the shoot.
During the Session
1. Arrive on Time:
• Punctuality ensures you have the full time allotted for your session and helps the photographer stay on schedule.
2. Be Relaxed and Natural:
• Try to relax and be yourself. The more natural you feel, the better the photos will turn out. Take deep breaths if you feel nervous.
3. Follow the Photographer’s Directions:
• Trust your photographer’s expertise. Follow their guidance on posing, expressions, and positioning.
4. Engage with the Photographer:
• Maintain good communication during the session. Provide feedback if you have preferences and ask questions if you’re unsure about something.
What should I wear?
Choosing what to wear for your photo session depends on several factors, including the type of photoshoot, the location, and your personal style. Here are some general guidelines to help you decide:
### General Tips
1. **Comfort is Key:**
- Wear something you feel comfortable in. If you’re not comfortable, it will show in the photos.
2. **Avoid Busy Patterns:**
- Solid colors or simple patterns work best. Avoid overly busy prints, logos, and text that can distract from your face.
3. **Complement, Don’t Match:**
- If you’re taking photos with others, aim for complementary colors and styles rather than matching outfits exactly.
4. **Consider the Location:**
- Dress appropriately for the setting. For example, a formal outfit for an urban photoshoot, casual attire for a park, or something chic for a studio session.
### Specific Guidelines
#### Portraits/Headshots
- **Classic and Simple:**
- Opt for neutral colors or soft tones. A well-fitted blazer or blouse works well.
- **Minimal Accessories:**
- Keep accessories simple and minimal to avoid distractions.
#### Family Photos
- **Coordinated Colors:**
- Choose a color palette that works well together without being too matchy-matchy. Think in terms of themes like pastels, earth tones, or jewel tones.
- **Layers and Textures:**
- Use layers and different textures to add depth and interest to the photos.
#### Outdoor Sessions
- **Seasonal Appropriateness:**
- Dress according to the season. Light, airy fabrics for summer; cozy layers for autumn or winter.
- **Practical Footwear:**
- Choose shoes that are practical for the terrain, especially if you'll be walking or standing a lot.
#### Formal Events (e.g., Engagement, Graduation)
- **Dress Up:**
- Wear something more formal, like a dress or a suit. Choose classic styles that won’t look dated over time.
- **Grooming:**
- Ensure your hair and makeup are done to match the formality of your outfit.
